A tiny room on your desktop for the projects you keep coming back to.

Momentum Mascot is a retro pixel character who watches your side-project activity and simply feels what is going on. Commit, edit, or mark a project as operating — they respond. Drift and they doze, then sleep. Come back after a long silence and they leap out of bed.

The mascot never dies. It waits.

Awake

Four moods, one commit at a time

It reads two things from each repo: your latest commit and your latest file change. No messages, no diffs, no scores.

Awake

Last commit under 24 hours. They are at their desk, working.

Dozing

24 to 72 hours. Standing away with coffee, getting quiet.

Asleep

Three days or more. In bed, still holding your place.

Comeback

A real commit after a sleep. They leap out of bed to celebrate.

64×64 desktop pet

Lives in the corner

A 64×64 desktop pet floats over your workspace as a small ambient signal. Click it to open the room. Drag it to snap it into another corner.

Build the one who waits

Three premade characters, or the + slot: pick a skin tone, eyes, hair, an outfit and one accessory, and the person in the room becomes yours. 9 skin tones, 7 eyes, 14 hairstyles in 7 colours, 13 outfits in 4 colours, and 42 accessories.

You build them once and that is the end of it. There is no settings screen to come back to, and the mascot you built then lives everywhere a premade does: the room, the desktop pet, and the share card.

Share without leaking

Copy a 1200×630 card to your clipboard. It carries the mood and the room — and deliberately nothing that identifies a project: no names, paths, messages, hashes, or timestamps.

Some projects run without commits

Mark a project as operating and it keeps its place in your list, but the mascot ignores it. No false sleeps while you are doing marketing, content, or planning.

Install

Two ways in, the same app. On the Mac App Store it is one click and there is nothing below to read. The disk image is for anyone who would rather not use the store, or who wants the app outside its sandbox.

  1. Download Momentum Mascot.dmg from the latest release.
  2. Open the DMG and drag the app to Applications.
  3. Open it. That is the whole process: the build is signed with a Developer ID certificate and notarized by Apple, so there is no Gatekeeper warning and nothing to run in Terminal.

The app does not start on login yet. After a restart, open it yourself.

Privacy is the architecture

The full privacy policy says the same thing at greater length, and covers where the Mac App Store build keeps its file.

What this is not

Momentum Mascot is not a productivity tool. It will not score you, streak you, nudge you, or tell you how long it has been since your last commit. It is a small companion for people with demanding day jobs who go through long stretches where nothing gets committed because life is happening.
